QUINTA RUA was born in autumn 2002, when the musical craftsman Guido Antoniotti had the idea to bring together, for a tour of Christmas concerts, some “historic”musicians of the Biellese area, pioneers of traditional Piedmontese and French music of the '80s and' 90s, including former members of REFOLÉ, and some members of the neo-formation of BALBALORD.

Since then QUINTA RUA continued performing in about 400 concerts, almost mainly in northern and central Italy with some trespassing in Germany, France and Switzerland.

QUINTA RUA made 2 self-produced CD, " Non E' Mai Troppo Trad " (2005), entirely vowed to dance, and the concept album "Busiard Chi l’Ha Contalo" (2007) tied to the eponymous concert, that proposes a series of old songs from the territory of Biella rearranged in a "trad" mood.

QUINTA RUA likes to define itself a poly-generational group (there are 30 years between the youngest and the oldest musician) and multi-instrumental, as its current 9 elements (some of them are multi-instrumentalists) play a variety of stringed instruments (violin, hurdy-gurdy, bouzouki, bidon bass), wind instruments (bagpipes, flutes), bellows (diatonic and chromatic accordion), as well as popular assorted percussion and instruments self-built with recycled materials.
